About Cantoro's Italian Market - Plymouth

Cantoro Italian Market & Trattoria is inspired by the famous Italian markets in Rome, Venice and Palermo. We are the largest Italian market in Michigan – a 55,000 square foot Italian culinary mecca with an award-winning restaurant attached. Throughout the year, owners Michael and John Fallone travel to their father Mario’s Italian birthplace in search of the best food and wines to bring back to Cantoro, items found nowhere else in the U.S. It’s no wonder, we are consistently named one of the best markets and trattoria in the U.S.!

Asian grocery stores and supermarkets stock ingredients, snacks and household goods that general American supermarkets often do not carry, organized by category rather than by country of origin in most stores. Produce and live or fresh seafood sections are usually at the back or side of the store, and weekend mornings bring the largest crowds and freshest restock. Many larger Asian supermarkets include a hot deli or food court counter selling prepared meals by the pound or as fixed plates, useful for a quick lunch while shopping. Labels are frequently bilingual or untranslated, so store staff can usually help locate a specific ingredient if you ask. Cash, cards and mobile pay are all commonly accepted at larger chains; smaller specialty shops may be cash-preferred.

Hours are published for 7 days a week. Typical hours are 8 am–8 pm. Hours in the United States do change around federal holidays and long weekends, so a quick call before a special trip is sensible. Market has ample items, maybe too many! Fun to shop there. Was under the impression they provided patrons with homemade foods. Purchased a half sandwich today…chicken/bacon quesadilla. Ate two bites (delicious), read the ingredients…you be the judge…(see photo) It’s a beautiful market and restaurant, but I’m concerned whether they are on board with healthier ingredients with limited chemicals.

Really cool Italian market this place is jammed packed with Italian foods. Everything was really clean well organized and every turn led to a new part of the store to explore. They have a gourmet restaurant I wish we could of ate there but we got there late on a Sunday afternoon and it was about to close. Absolutely huge pastry section as well as breads. Lots of on house made items.

My wife's colleague suggested this place several times, and we just dined today celebrating our wedding anniversary. Our server, Barbra was friendly, polite and superb. The menu has few vegeterian options, but she helped us customized an entree order, tailoring to my wife's pasta choice. Amazing food, service and overall experience. 11/10!! Definitely coming back. 😊
